Old Town Slingshot – Orlando, FL – 4/2/2024

Right outside of our hotel for the first 2 nights was Fun Spot America and the Old Town Slingshot. I have tired a few times to take the kids on the slingshot but it has never worked out. I was bound and determined to get them on the Old Town Slingshot.

The Old Town Slingshot – launches you over 360 feet in the air and going from 0-100 in less than 2 seconds.

After a long day at Disney (Epcot), we decide to eat Checkers for dinner. We remembers it was in front of the hotel and didn’t think it would take too long. Well that was far from reality. After waiting about 10 minutes in line and never moving, I run over to the slingshot to see how much it cost and the wait time. Lucky for me, no wait time and the price wasn’t horrible.

I call over to the older boys and tell them to give me their stuff and the board the ride.

I don’t know if they enjoyed the ride or talking more haha. They had a great time with it!

After they were done, I sent them back in line and had the girls come over for their turn. They were both excited and a little nervous. I always tell them not to be afraid of something until they try it. Of course both ended up loving it and wanting to go back on it.

I send the girls back in line and bring Austin over. It is his turn and since Taylor is way too small to ride, I take one for the team and ride with Austin. I’m not really taking one for the team, I am an adrenaline junkie and I had no problem riding with Austin. Austin was pretty nervous but I assured him that everything would be okay and I am right next to him. Nick filmed us from the ground.

I did close my eyes once during the initial launch. What can I say, I’m getting a little squeamish in my old age. During the ride, I hear Austin make this weird noise and I ask him if he is okay and he said he was. Going back and watching the video, you can clearly see that he passes out for a few seconds. he enjoyed it but I’m not sure he would be jumping to go on it again anytime soon. Let’s also not forget, he is only 8. Just recently turned 8 at that.

Once we all finished and got all of our videos, I go back in line to meet up with the kids. They STILL haven’t ordered. We did 3 rides on the slingshot with another family between the boys and girls going on it and still not to the window to order food. I’m talking 45 minutes at this point. We said, screw it and drove a block over to the Burger King. We were back in our hotel room about 10 minutes later.

All and all, take chances when you can. You never know when a good opportunity sneaks up on you. This one just happened to be in the form for adrenaline and the Old Town Checkers, is insanely slow.
